Covid Vaccine Delivery

Ashwell and Bassingbourn Surgeries are part of Icknield Primary Care Network (PCN). This network is a group of surgeries from Baldock, Letchworth, Ashwell and Bassingbourn that work collaboratively to support our combined patients and each other.

Starting next week our PCN will begin to roll out the vaccine to our patients. This will be conducted from a site in Letchworth and will be a joint effort in order to deliver the vaccine in the most efficient manner. We will be using Public Health England’s (PHE) priority group’s instruction to guide our vaccine delivery (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-care-home-and-healthcare-settings-posters/covid-19-vaccination-first-phase-priority-groups). Part of this role out will include patients that are housebound, they will receive the vaccine via a home visit.

We will shortly start to contact patients to offer you the vaccine; we will be working to ensure the vaccine is issued as quickly and effectively as possible. We will be providing Clinical and admin support to the PCN to ensure the delivery of the vaccine goes as smoothly as possible. We will be continuing to see patients at Ashwell and Bassingbourn whilst the vaccine is being delivered, however there may be increased wait times for appointments and responses to queries. Your kind patience and support is greatly appreciated.

Please do not contact Ashwell and Bassingbourn to ask when you will receive the vaccine. The bookings are being made by a separate team so the admin staff that will be working on the front desks will not be able to answer your queries.

We are hoping to have our first clinic on Friday 15th January 2021 starting at 0800hrs and finishing at 2000hrs, we will then have another clinic on Saturday 16th January 2021 running during the same hours as above we expect to have used our first delivery by Saturday evening. We hope to receive regular deliveries after this and will continue to administer the vaccine working through the priority list previously mentioned.
